D23 Expo Japan 2018 News and Updates!

Today at the D23 Expo in Japan, Bob Chapek (Walt Disney Parks and Resorts Chairman) shared new details about the many new additions being added to the Disney Parks around the world!

Bob Chapek spoke about the many additions, saying

“We are hard at work creating even more ways to experience Disney magic at our parks and resorts around the world, and with our incredible library of beloved stories and characters, we know exciting adventures and magical memories are in store for all our guests.”


Marvel News:

Disneyland Paris:

Bob Chapek announced that Disneyland Paris will be receiving a Marvel Super Hero Universe and Rock N Rollercoaster will be reimagined as a high-speed, hyper-kinetic adventure where guests will team up with Iron-Man and their favorite Avengers.

Fans were also given a sneak peek of the new Marvel themed Resort Rooms that will open at Disney’s Hotel New York – The Art of Marvel in 2020.

Also starting this June, Marvel Summer of Super Heroes will be joining Disneyland Paris. This will bring guests face to face with Captain America, Spider-Man, Star-Lord, and Black Widow.

Hong Kong Disneyland:

Marvel Superheros have already been welcomed at Hong Kong Disneyland with the Iron-Man experience. With the popularity of this attraction, Bob Chapek has announced the addition of a second Marvel themed ride joining Hong Kong Disneyland. In this attraction, guests will join Ant Man and The Wasp to fight Arnim Zola and his army of Hydra swarm bots in a thrilling new adventure.

Epcot:

Bob Chapek also gave a little update about the new highly awaited Guardians of the Galaxy attraction coming to Epcot.

This new attraction will feature a brand new innovative ride system that is supposed to “wow” guests! Bob Chapek also announced it will also be one of the longest enclosed roller coasters in the world!


Star Wars:

Star Wars Hotel in Walt Disney World:

Last year at the D23 in Anaheim, Disney announced a groundbreaking Star Wars themed hotel concept. Ever since this hotel has been announced many Disney fans are eager to hear more about it. Today, Bob Chapek gave us more details about this luxury resort.

As soon as guests arrive to this resort, they will embark on a journey through space. Everyone will board onto a starship and and depart together for a multi-day adventure. Bob Chapek also announced it will be directly connected to Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

Star Wars: Galaxy Edge (Hollywood Studios and Disneyland Resort):

Bob Chapek also shared more details on the upcoming Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge in Disney’s Hollywood Studios and Disneyland Resort. Fans were able to catch a glimpse of an impressive fleet of life-size X-wing star fighters and the Millennium Flacon, which are being created for the opening of Galaxy’s Edge. Imagineers are pushing the boundaries as they prepare to place fans in the middle of the action, where they can live their own Star Wars stories.


Pixar:

Pixar Pier:

Disney fans were excited to hear news about the highly awaited Pixar Pier opening on June 23rd. Pixar Pier will feature four whimsical neighborhoods inspired after Pixar movies. These neighborhoods will have new themed food, attractions, and merchandise. With these new neighborhoods also comes a new marquee sign featuring the iconic Pixar lamp as you walk in.

Bob Chapek announced the opening of the Incredicoaster and a future attraction themed after Pixar’s Inside Out. The Incredicoaster will feature a combination of special effects, character figures, and lighting that will bring the Incredible family racing alongside you in a high speed adventure.

Paint the Night:

Last year at D23, it was announced a new float will be joining the Paint the Night Parade. Today, it was announced the new float will be Incredibles themed! This float will feature Mr. Incredible, Elastigirl, and Frozone. Imagineers are also using dynamic and innovative technology to showcase Jack, Dash, and Violet using their powers.


Mickey and Minnie’s Railway Runaway:

Mickey and Minnie’s Railway Runaway will feature a new catchy theme song specifically made for the ride. This attraction will also feature new technology that Imagineers are calling 2 1/2-D, where glasses will not be required.

Bob Chapek has announced the opening year and ride vehicle of this upcoming attraction. Opening in 2019, this attraction will premiere a new cartoon short with Mickey and Minnie getting ready for a picnic. As they head out, Mickey and Minnie drive alongside a train and find out the engineer is Goofy. This will let you step into the movie and go on a wild ride on Goofy’s train.

Guests will board onto the train.


Tokyo Disneyland

Tomorrowland:

Although not much details were revealed, Bob Chapek announced the addition of a new Big Hero 6 inspired ride.  This ride will give guests the chance to ride around with Baymax.

Fantasyland Expansion:

Also coming to Tokyo Disneyland, Bob Chapek announced the addition of an Beauty and the Beast themed area. This area will feature an attraction themed after award winning music guests know and love.

With this expansion the first ever full-scale, live entertainment theater will be added.

Toontown:

Toontown will be receiving an all new design studio where guests will be allowed to meet everyones favorite, Minnie Mouse!

Soarin’:

At Tokyo DisneySea, guests will be able to experience an all new version of Soarin.
