The happy haunts have been materializing and decided to share their top 6 favorite Disney Fun Facts about Haunted Mansion (both WDW and Disneyland)!
1.) Empty Attraction?
The construction of the Haunted Mansion at Disneyland finished in 1963! Did you know the building actually sat empty for two years. Imagineers and Walt Disney wanted to focus on the World’s Fair which was between 1964-1965! After this, Walt Disney sadly died which left Imagineers struggling to decide what to do for the attraction.
2.) New Orleans or Baltimore?
Even though Haunted Mansion is in New Orleans Square, it is actually inspired after a house that was 999 miles North of Baltimore. Sounds familiar right? 999 miles.
3.) Were ghosts frugal or materialistic?
According to a Disney report, Disney spent 7 million dollars to create and build the Haunted Mansion! Today that would translate to 45million dollars!
4.) Traveling Mansion?
The Haunted Mansion actually resides in different lands at the different Disney Parks!
New Orleans Square = Disneyland
Liberty Square = Walt Disney World, Magic Kingdom
Frontierland = Disneyland Paris = Phantom Manor
Fantasyland = Tokyo Disneyland
Hong Kong Disneyland actually has a ride based off of Haunted Mansion, but is not Haunted Mansion! It is actually called Mystic Manor and is located in Mystic Point.
5.) Is the room going up or am I going down?
In Walt Disney World and Tokyo Disneyland the roof is actually going up; whereas in Disneyland and Disneyland Paris the floor is going down.
6.)Favorite Hitchhiking Ghosts!
