Happy Birthday to Walt Disney!

Today is the day that every Disney Fan should celebrate… Walt Disney’s birthday – December 5th, 1901.

Yes! Walt Disney would be 114 years old today!

For this special birthday today, I will be sharing 5 rare facts about Walt Disney.

5.) He was the “Man in the forest.”

May sound really weird but when Walt would show up to work, Cast Members would use to code “Man in the forest” to warn each other that the boss was coming.

4.) Magic follows him everywhere!

Walt Disney had a housekeeper, Thelma Howard, for 30 years and as a Christmas bonus would give her Disney shares. When she passed in 1994, her estate was said to be worth 9 billion dollars. Half of that money went to her som where the other half went to homeless children and kids with disadvantages.

3.) He found his calling at a young age.

When Walt Disney was little, his neighbor “Doc” would pay him to draw his horse!

2.) Last Written Words.

Walt Disney’s last written words were apparently Kurt Russel and no one knows why; not even Kurt Russel.

1.) He was the first official voice of Mickey Mouse.

When Steamboat Willied debuted they had cartoons featuring Mickey Mouse. After a while the cast decided to have Walt as Mickey since he knew exactly what he wanted Mickey to sound like.

I took a tour about a year ago at Walt Disney World and learned a lot about Walt. I enjoy the Carousel of Progress so much more now as I learned how much that ride was his “baby”. He wanted to make sure the robots were as life like as possible so he purchased a plain ticket for the old lady in the chair robot to see if she could pass as an old sleeping woman. She did!

I wish he could see how Disneyland Parks look like now, and for him to celebrate his birthday at the park with all the little kids singing happy birthday to him. That would be magical.
